Patients who seek cosmetic breast surgery, whether for breast augmenation, breast reduction or mastopexy expect and require the highest standards. Competence grows from training, experience and commitment to excellence.

The British Association of Aesthetic Breast Surgeons or B.A.A.B.S was established in 2006. This is a new organisation that will seek representation as it grows at a National and International level.

This is an organisation for Aesthetic Breast Surgeons who are recognised as Specialist Breast and Reconstructive Breast Surgeons in the United Kingdom. They will regularly perform Reconstructive and Cosmetic Breast Surgery as part of their normal Practice.

Members are selected on the basis of their Specialist field of practive as a Breast Surgeon, and commitment to achieving the highest possible standards of cosmetic breast surgery. They must be fully accredited as a Specialist Breast Surgeon.

Membership criteria:

• Adherence to the high ethical standards of BAABS at all times
• Full Member of the Association of Breast Surgery at the British Association of Surgical Oncology
• Accredited Consultant Breast Surgeon practicing in the UK
• Full registration as a Specialist on the GMC specialist register
• Approved evidence of training in Cosmetic Breast Surgery
• Evidence of continuous professional development in cosmetic breast surgery
• Annual submission of cosmetic breast surgery audit data to BAABS
